The SIHM Mixed-Use Complex was conceived as a unique development that harmoniously combines commercial enterprise, community engagement, and spiritual enrichment within a single integrated campus. Developed for the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (SIHM), the project reflects a forward-looking vision of financial sustainability—creating revenue-generating facilities that support the congregation's mission while providing meaningful services to the surrounding community.
Strategically located along Marcos Highway, one of the principal gateways to Baguio City, the development was planned to capitalize on its high-visibility frontage while maintaining a sense of order, serenity, and purpose. The site is organized as a progression of experiences, beginning with commercially oriented functions at the highway edge and gradually transitioning toward quieter institutional and spiritual spaces deeper within the property.
The commercial component includes an automobile showroom, service and maintenance facilities, a fuel station, and supporting retail establishments designed to attract both local residents and travelers. These facilities provide a strong economic foundation for the development while contributing valuable services to the growing corridor. Careful site planning ensures efficient vehicular circulation, convenient customer access, and a cohesive architectural character across the various commercial uses.
Moving inward, the project shifts from commerce to community. Landscaped walkways, gathering spaces, and pedestrian-oriented environments create opportunities for interaction, reflection, and recreation. Complementing the commercial facilities are lifestyle-oriented amenities such as a café and a natural products store, promoting wellness, healthy living, and social engagement in a setting that reflects the values of the congregation.
At the heart of the development stands the proposed chapel, envisioned as the spiritual centerpiece of the complex. Designed as a place of prayer, contemplation, and community worship, the chapel provides a tranquil counterpoint to the activity of the commercial areas. Its architecture embraces simplicity, dignity, and accessibility, creating an environment that welcomes both the faithful and visitors seeking a moment of reflection amidst the pace of everyday life.
The architectural language of the project balances contemporary commercial design with institutional warmth and spiritual character. Rather than treating the various functions as separate developments, the design unifies them through a cohesive site plan, complementary building forms, and extensive landscaping that reinforces a sense of place. The result is a development that feels integrated and purposeful, despite its diverse programmatic requirements.
More than a mixed-use development, the SIHM Mixed-Use Complex represents a model for mission-driven growth—demonstrating how commercial viability can be thoughtfully aligned with social, community, and spiritual objectives. By creating a destination where business activity, community life, and faith-based values coexist, the project offers a sustainable framework for supporting the long-term aspirations of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary while serving the broader needs of the public.
